I'm unable to get a section of sloped glazing and a curtain wall to join. Specifically I need the mullions of each to join. The online help indicates that it should work, and I've tried the suggestions contains in a previous thread (http://forums.augi.com/showthread.php?t=4194&highlight=Sloped+Glazing), but so far I'm not having any success.

Thanks for any help.

I was able to get it to work by creating a mass in the shape of the glazing pieces and selecting curtain system with pick multiple faces. Pick both the vertical and the sloped faces to create a single curtain system. Once the system is generated you can place Mullions per the Modeling tools including a corner mullion at the offending edge. Make sure you remove any rules applied to the curtain system prior to selecting the faces because they will be applied to both planes of glazing (i.e. 4 spaces on the sloped portion will also be reflected in the vertical portion where you only want 1 space). You can add your grid lines in afterwards using the standard modeling tools.

Aaron -

Thanks for the tip. I hadn't thought of starting with the massing tools.

I am still curious whether the post-placement join will work as the help document seems to suggest.

The only way I was able to do it is via the Curtain System.

A corner Mullion is defined as only working at endpoints between two curtain walls, Ridges of sloped glazing, and internal grid lines within Curved Curtain walls. In point of fact, you cannot select any horizontal grid line (edge or otherwise) to place a corner mullion without making a curved/angled curtain wall or system.

I am not able to find the help file you are referencing. Would you please point me to what you are looking at?

You can find the help reference by searching for "Mitered Mullions on Curtain Walls".

I am less concerned with joining/mitering the glazing between the curtainwall and the sloped glazing system than with having the mullions join between the systems. As you can see in the image I attached to the original post the mullions overlap but are not joined. I'm not able to use the Join geometry tool on these, even on an individual basis. I will have a mullion between the vertical and horizontal glazing, so in this case the mitering of these planes is not important.

Ah... I see what you're saying now. From what I can tell the help file is referring to the mullion elements around the perimeter of a sloped glazing unit. See attached Image

I don't see a way to join/miter/or cause to interact in any way the mullions from two different categories (roofs and walls). Even in the case of the curtain system it still had to be a single entity before I could make it work correctly. Hopefully you were able to achieve your goal with my prior solution.

I have been reading through this thread - its been very helpful!

But - I created a curtain wall that I'd like to add to by altering the mass. For some reason the edit face selection box Grey's out when I click this curtain wall......

If you used the mass to define the curtain system you can alter it by changing the mass and then 'remaking' the curtain system.

That option is greyed out for some reason....
