Polynesian Hip Roof Question

We've got a problem with a roof on a residential complex we are working on and I was wondering if anyone has a feasible solution.
I've attached a couple of image exports that show what is going on. Basically we have a polynesian style hip roof that has a flatter slope near the bottom and then a steeper slope attached to it. In 3d it looks alright as two separate roof pieces but when you look at it in section it is very messy...is there a way to fix this? Does it require creating some sort of in-place roof family?
Any help would be great! :)

Hi Danielle,

Try making the lower roof to a cut-off level, then construct the higher steeper roof from that cut-off level. Then use Join Geometry to join the two roofs.
