the architects model has the structural in it. i was able to make a search set for the structure based off of the element name containing columns. and my arch search set is based off of the file name being arch model. in my arch search set the structure is also selected because it is from the arch model. i want my arch search set to have every arch feature but the structural. the reason is i don't want duplicate clashes in my clash detection. and for the most part the mep clashes will be penetration thru walls and floors.

since my arch search set is based off of the file how do i get that search set to not select the structural elements that are in my structural search set. i have tried the negate condition but it still finds the structure.

So, you have an arch selection set, I'll call it Archie, and it is the whole architectural drawing.

In the Find Items dialog box, what I would do is make a selection set with the first entry as Item, the Source File, then =, and then the name of the archie file.

Then you can even just select the files in the left side of the dialog box to only look oat certain files.

Drop your negative value under the first item you put in there, using Item, Source File, = and then the file name.

Uncheck those Match Character Widths, Match Diacritics, and Match case, then click on find all to see if it's giving you what you want.

If it's working, save it as Archie and you're off to the races..

I've included a small sample of what Paul is illustrating.
