I know you can modify the vertical structure of a wall and that feature works great so i figured if i need to add vertical pop outs to a wall, i could find a way to modify the horizontal structure too. Is this even possible? or is there an easier way without creating a hundred extrusions? Any help would be greatly appreciated

Brian,
Create a similar wall type, with the material you want 'bumped-out' thicker. Then just lay the new thicker wall over the thinner (you'll get a warning that walls overlap...) and then use Join Geometry to make the walls one.

Also check out the use of "architectural columns" in Revit as they can be used in creative ways to accomplish vertical pop-outs. Architectural colums will wrap layers around itself and may be used for what you are trying to do.
