Attached is a copy of the electrical outlet family that I made with parameters also for phone and data; it can appear in plan-view as any of these.
It has been working well except in some of my wall types the plan-view annotation symbols appear embedded in that wall. In other wall types they appear just touching the surface of the wall, as they should. The odd thing: in both cases they look OK in the 3-D and elevation views, so the little box that appears on the wall is working normally, it just the plan-symbol that embeds in certain wall types. I can not determine a pattern to the wall types that seem to cause this to happen, "interior" vs "exterior" does not seem to matter, although in the thicker wall types the effect is more pronounced, as if it always expected a 3" thick wall. It is just the symbols in plan-view that do this, the elevation and 3-D views work as they should.

Attached also is a floor plan showing this.

Any help would be extremely welcome....

In your family, make the wall and ref planes visible and change the scale so it easier to work and see different elements. Align ref plane of your data symbol with the other ref plane (see pic) and lock.
