I have been tasked with finding a way to create a schedule that will report both a Gross area of a department and its net response. I can accomplish this by exporting an Area schedule to excel, a Room schedule to the same spreadsheet and having excel run the calculation.

Is it possible to create a schedule such as this in Revit? Is there an API that would work or is the excel format still the best choice. Revit is a database and should be able to provide me this information as architects require it on a consistent basis as part of programming.

As a recap, I'm looking to get a Gross/Net Ratio from the department area, so each department will give me its own Gross/Net.

Any help is appreciated.

Look into Calculated Values, Formulas and Conditional Formatting for Schedules.

Area Plans and Room Schedules are two different animals in Revit.
You can't get one schedule that shows both, so you'll have to export each individually, and do the combining in Excel.
Unless you want to get into linking/exporting the entire Revit model to a database format. But you'll still need to set up the reports yourself.
