Dear forum members!

I would like to ask those of you who use the external analysis tools such as Energy plus, Archiphysik, Dialux/Radiance, Odeon. Which format do you use to export the data from Revit, IFC or gbXML?

The import to the simulation tools supports both formats. But it seems that in the IFC all the walls are exported as solids or breps, resulting into 6 surfaces instead of one surface of the wall. That means that using the IFC does not make sense at all...

I did not find the appropriate thread for this post, that is why I am writing in the general forum for Revit Architecture.

Cheers,
Anna.

gbXML is the most widely used format for capturing the Energy Analytical Model representation that is used for Building Performance Analysis (BPA) in most applications. IFC is not a widely used format for this purpose, although it will capture a much more literal representation of the Revit Model, which can be more useful in certain lighting analysis scenarios.
