View Full Version : 2010 How to Properly Cut/subtract Geometry?

Hi, i am stuck with one problem.
I searched all internet for an solution but didn't find it.
So my problem is, i cant properly cut/subtract void extrusion from chair. but it dosn't cut/subtract from chair.
i wanna subtract void extrusion same like image 2.
when i cut extrusion it give me this error.
"Some Void Forms of this family do not cut anything and will be deleted. To make a Void Form cut something else use the Cut Geometry tool."

please someone solve my problem... by snap

Im not sure i fulyl understand you. In the image2 you seem to 1- have cut the geometry properly, 2- have way more cuts the n in image 1
You can also post the family

Dear Hurtubise: i wanna make same shape like image 2.... but i fail to cut from extrusion from chair.
i dont know whats problem.... if u have any idea about that... please educate me through snapshots..

Make sure the extrusion and the void are part of the same family. You can't create the chair as one piece of geometry and then create the voids as a separate family to cut the chair.
Open in-place family, create chair geometry, create void geometry for the holes, close the family.

You are welcome but I certainly agree with Daniel...this should not be done as an in-place family.
