We currently specialize in multi-family mid-rise buildings (4 to 5 stories of residences over parking garage and retail, generally speaking. We have recently moved also into designing high rise projects. Multiple towers over podium containing retail at ground level and several stories of underground parking.

For the pre-design phase we placed all of the buildings including the podium into one file and have quickly realized that there were too many levels than one could possibly deal with for a single file. Can the experienced designers please give me some recommendations on how to structure this kind of revit template? Does each tower have to be a single revit file all linked into one master file? What about the site topography and the podium garage? Can you comment on how well this has worked for your studios in the past? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you so much.

Can't just give you a simple answer to this :)

I would have to know the footprint of the podium and tower. Off the top of my head, each shower should be it's own file and depending on the LOD may need to be broken up into multiple files
Example:
Tower 1
-Core & Shell.rvt
-Building Interior.rvt
Tower 2
-Core & Shell.rvt
-Building Interior.rvt
Podium
-Core & Shell.rvt
-Building Interior.rvt

Everything would be linked into each other for reference. A site model would contain all site and topo elements and the building files as well. So much should be looked at when doing this.
-Phasing and deliverables
-Team size and worksets (most likely dictated due to model size though)
-Sheets, where will they be
-Details, if there are shared details, how will you show and document these
-Consultant files
