Can't add Data Rows to Schedule

I know I'm missing something simple here. I brought in a footing schedule from another project, (copied and pasted), and was going to edit the data for this project. But the data did not come across, only the title and header rows. So I wanted to right click and add data rows to populate manually but the option to add data rows is greyed out??
I did the exact same thing with a beam schedule and was able to add data rows with no problem.
What am I missing?

The schedule will only report on geometry in the model. If you want more data rows, you need more footings. I may be missing something too...

Was the schedule created properly to begin with? And I'm with gbrowne, the data will populate the schedule unless it is a schedule key in which you manually add rows.
