I have noticed that when editing a railing on a stair with a mid-landing to add the lower extension (12" plus tread depth), the segment of rail at the mid-landing becomes sloped instead of flat. If I change the setting for that segment to Flat instead of By Host, it becomes flat but it's at some weird height.
This only happens when adding a segment at the bottom of the railing, typically 1' - 11" long, for a stair with 11" tread depth. I have to "force" it by shortening the segment at the mid-landing by 11" (the tread depth) and then making the upper stair rail segment 11" longer to meet. But without that lower rail extension segment, the rail mid-landing segment works fine when it's the same length as the landing itself.
What gives?
