Hi,

In our office we do buildings in a modular concept, each module gets built seperately and then bolted together when they are on site.
What we would like to do is have a space or room for each module but also rooms for each separate room within the module itself. What we want to do is create a schedule which shows all items in each module(including those within walls) but as we have separate rooms which we use when creating room layouts we are not able to create these.
First we thought we could use rooms for the individual room schedules and then spaces for modular schedules.

And we have our models split up into architectural, electrical, hvac, piping and structural. As objects in the linked in models dont recognise the rooms in the architectural model we had to create spaces which have the same name and number as the rooms in the architectural model then we created two schedules, one for architectural objects which sorted them by room:number and then a separate schedule which listed all linked in objects by space:number, alas, were not able to use spaces to get a schedule for each module.

Does anyone have a reasonable way to deal with this problem? theres over 50 modules and 150+ rooms over 6000m2 so using a parameter on each object really isnt viable as things get moved around, copied and so on.

if anyone has any ideas regarding this id gladly hear them :)

As a dumb thought since your modules are basically one empty room with no partitions (at least that's what it sounds like), what about adding a phase. Since Rooms are phase specific, you could create those in a previous phase (module assembly) and the individual rooms in the final phase (new construction or say Module Fit Out). Room Schedules are also phase specific, this should allow you to accomplish that as well.
Another thought would be to use areas.
But this really only helps for area take-off.
The parameter might be your best option for what you're looking to accomplish. It might also be the better way to filter your schedules.
Just my 2 cents.
