What happened to the default View Template setting?

At one time, back before View Templates received their current improvements, there was an option to set a "default" view template for all new views of the same type, i.e. plans, sections, elevations, etc.

I have for instance an template for Interior Elevations set up, but I will be creating lots of them on my current project. It would be nice if they automatically had that view template applied when I first create the view, but I can't seem to find that option anymore. Did it go away?

Still there. Look in the view Type Properties. e.g. go to a plan view, open type properties and it's located there.
