View Full Version : 2015 Filter for Material - Fire Rated Walls

So today I was asked if I could turn off the fire rating material in a fine view detail.
I can turn off the cut pattern via VG, but this also removes the Cut pattern from the Gyp board.
We have our fire rated walls set with a material for the core that mimics the old fire tape patterns we used to see.
It'd be really nice to be able to add a line component to it, but you can't put letters in lines in revit from my understanding so that's out of the question.
What I did find is that you can assign a parameter to a material. So I thought gee, maybe I could assign a parameter for the material and then turn off only that material via a filter. Funny thing is that you can select a material category in a filter.
It would appear what I'm looking to do isn't really possible.
Any thoughts on how to hide the material with in the core layer of a wall without hiding the rest of the layers?
Thanks in advance.

Did you try Parts? You could split the all, hide some elements and override VG... PITA though if it's a large project.

Very large project.
Are you suggesting we create 3 separate walls or is there some other way?
I haven't heard of using parts for walls yet.

Hey, I'd just like to add that I also have this question. I have been trying to use a filter to turn off the 'rated' material within my core layer at a fine level of detail. I'll admit that I don't have a lot of experience using filters, is this even possible or am I just slamming my head into a wall hoping for an impossible outcome?
