How do you set a workset so that others working on a file can't move/adjust/change/affect those elements?

I'd like it to be like a design option whereby they have to actually "enter into" the workset or unlock something to be able to change elements.

Thanks!

Change the username (Revit Hoarder) of the Revit session. Open the model. Check out the workset/s that you would like to lock others out of. Close the model without relinquishing. Change the username back and reopen the model.

Anytime someone tries to delete/ modify an element that is on one of the worksets Revit will inform you to wait until Revit Hoarder resaves.

I do this just for grid lines and levels. Teaching users the proper way to select and modify elements is a much better solution.

Thanks Buchrick. I wish there was a simple "lock"/"unlock" type function for the worksets.

While this is technically possible, it introduces workflow complexity that likely won't result in a positive ROI. Myself along with some other Revit experts just had this very conversation on another thread (http://www.revitforum.org/mep-general/23462-worksets-day-1-a.html) at Revitforum. If you are asking this question, you should really give it a read.

Fortunately or unfortunately the answer is just better communication between users. I've found that if the person hoarding it sees or feels what its like on the receiving end, then that person is less and less likely to commit the same issue again and again. Locking things down just creates more mouse clicks and potential confusion for BIM Managers. It just becomes one more thing they have to add to their list of things to check when things go haywire.
Good post and direction Kyle.
