Can I connect to the Identity URL from a drawing without opening the properties of a component or listing it in a schedule?
I thought there was a way for the cursor to change as you click an item with a URL?

If you have your tooltip assistance set to anything above "none" you will get an element's or component's category and family when you hover, but not the URL link.
For that you need to open the Properties.

It would be nice if our clients could link right from a pdf or dwf drawing right to the manufactures product data sheet just by clicking on on item.
Thanks

I agree - that is what I thought it would do! It does that in other apps... :D

Hyperlinks from objects really need to be made available in at LEAST dwf exported format. This would be so usefull for lots of reasons, and prety impressive in the clients hands !
Of course it would need to be a check box option when printing to dwf

Interesting discussion with many possibilities, but none are clearly workable for all cases.
There are many competing demands for click or double click functions, (select, edit sketch, open properties, open links, ...). You can have only one. Which is most important?
Elements can contain an unlimited number of URL parameters. If an object has more than one URL parameter, how should it behave?
Would exposing the links in the right button context menu suffice?

If you could right click to view the list and left click to pick the link, that would be good. Especially if you could do it in a dwf format.

Well what I really want Revit to do is go out to the url's and make PDF's and assemble them into a cut sheet booklet. ;-)

A cut sheet booklet that the clients and contractors can access through a DWF file and a pdf file.
