Linework tool causes Invisible LInes to appear as Halftone

I have a wall that I want to have a couple of lines be invisible in section where I am showing a roof come in. I can successfully override the outside line o be invisible. However, when I select the next line in, that line becomes half-tone.

Has anybody seen this and how do I solve it?
