Hi,

I am working on a curved exterior canopy made up of structural columns and beams. One of the beams was created on a sloped reference plane. When I try and create polar array for the sloped beam, I cannot directly snap to center point (even when I draw reference circles or lines). When I do complete the array the beams are created at odd angles. I tried grouping the sloped beam along with the beam below it (which was constructed on a normal plane) so that I can select a center point, however, the array again created groups at odd angles. I'm assuming my problem has to do with the reference plane, however I'm not sure how to handle this.

Thanks,

Sal

unfortunetely it looks like the plane revit uses for the sloped beam is the slope the beam is using, so the array uses that reference....you can create arcs and lines that reference the beginning and end points of the sloped beams and draw them one by one.

Maybe someone will come up with another workaround???

Peace,

I figured I could draw them individually, but I figured there had to be a way to correctly array objects that have been drawn on a different refernce plane. Maybe someone has a suggestion on how I could have drawn these objects differently.

Thanks,
Sal

I haven't looked at the file, but would the structural beam system tool be useful in this situation? It is simply a matter of setting the workplane, setting what beam to use and what spacing it should have and the direction the beams run and then they are automatically created?

Give it a try.

I don't seem to have an spare time anymore... I need a holiday.
