Import DWG line weights

I am working as a consultant for another architect and am importing his DWG's. All of the lines in the imported DWG's appear and print as "thin lines". I have tested changing the Import Line Weights for all 5 of the available importlineweights-DWG-AIA, BS1192, CP83, default, and iso13567 files, to no avail. He gave me an AEC Standard.STB file, but I have no idea what to do with it. I have not owned or used auto CAD for over 14 years, any help would be appreciated.

Have you checked the object styles in the visibility graphics of the project? If the imported/linked drawings have a lineweight setup already in the project they could display and print thin no matter what import setting is used.
