schematic design file management

May have already posted on this subject...it's Friday and all's a blur....
Anyhooo:

How to manage schematic design process? Like Concept 1, 2, 3 etc.
We have lot's of different schemes with site plans, floor plan layout options, exterior design motifs, interior color/finish schemes, etc---
I think Revit needs a way to handle this somehow in an organized way---
yeah, you can sorta use worksets, view templates, etc---but I think we need to be able to have a "separate place" for design trials/versions/variations within the .rvt project browser---similar to having Floor Plans: Level One, Level 2 etc.---we would have:

Floor Plans: Level 1 / Concept A
Elevations: South / Concept A......etc.

Anyone have any ideas or ways to manage schematic design process?

Hi Cliff,

This is right up there at the top of many folk's wishlists and has been dicussed a lot in this and other forums.

Hopefully Revit have heard our voices wailing in the wilderness.

At this stage, you need to use workarounds like phases or worksets.

Alternatively, you can start a new file for each design option.

You may also be able to use project linking, depending on your circumstances.

I concur with beegee, many have asked for this feature.

What I've been doing is set up phases scheme A, scheme B, etc. and then duplicate the views and set the phase & rename each to it's scheme. This works quite well if you begin by setting the earliest phase to concept that has most of the objects that repeat later on. (less demo work) The last one I did had 8 shemes. The worst part was undoing / deleting the losers once a concept was selected.
