What are some good methods of exporting Revit drafting view details to be used in other Revit drawing projects? Maybe a way to make a standards file to pull details into projects.
Thanks!

Under the "Insert" tab, there is a button to "Insert from file". This allows you to pull in a drafting view from another file. So you could create a project that has standard or common door details, then insert individual details from that file. You could even use the "insert from file" method to bring details from existing projects into your standards file(s). I would advocate doing a set of "standards" files, rather than one big one - by categories like doors, casework, roof details, etc. This worked pretty well in the one company that had those set up. Once the detail is in your project, you can edit it to more specifically match the project conditions.

Thank you for the feedback. I like the idea of creating a set of standards by category and using the insert from file button... I appreciate your ideas.

That is what we do. Our old AutoCAD details were named by specification section, and we created a separate Revit file for each one of those. We are still in the process of getting everything in Revit (complicated by the fact that QA decided that we should revisit all of the details as we brought them into Revit). The intent is to have the original details maintained in Revit going forward, and use exports from Revit for any AutoCAD projects. I am trying to finish up a LISP routine to automate as much as possible of the polishing process on the exported Revit files so that they are usable in AutoCAD.

David, Thanks for the info. Sounds like a good project updating the details. I appreciate your ideas.
Thanks again! Rob
