I have a site plan and have linked the building project into it with shared coordinates.
I want to see only the building footprint in the site plan (no walls, etc.), and I want to place a spot elevation on it referenced to the survey point.
So in the building file I
duplicated the first floor plan view
in the new view drew a detail masking region over the footprint
used view graphics to turn off all categories except the masking region
in the site plan, set the building file display settings to By Linked View and chose the new view.
Placed the spot elevation in the site plan.
This works. I see only the footprint (masking region), I can place the spot elevation, it is at the first floor level, and it updates properly if the floor level moves.
My first question is - are detail objects such as masking regions automatically placed at the level on which they are created? I don't want the spot elevation referencing something that is not exactly at the floor level (this is the only place that the building elevation on site is documented).
Second question - is there an better way to achieve my goals?
Thanks!
