A colleague tried to open a project from a client and just as the Start View loaded in Revit, the Autodesk Sign In window appeared and, since the user had no Autodesk account, he was unable to continue and the project was closed. We have never had that happen in any of our Revit products and I'm wondering what could have caused this. Is there a link that needs to be disabled? The client is not helping and claims that it is tied to our Autodesk product.

It just looks like an unregistered version. Are you using network licensing or standalone?

A very good question. As this situation is in our main office and not in my location, I can only assume that it is a network license. I think we only have one standalone license and that is on a laptop in my office. I will check that out. Thanks.

As it turned out, the client had been using cloud collaboration tools and had not purged any connections before sharing the drawing with our office. The file still thought it needed a pathway to the cloud and demanded a password before allowing any editing. I have not discovered what the connection was or how it needed to be purged but the file was replaced and all seems well now.
