Still using R14

I am still using R14 for 99% of all my work....................I am working for an Oil and Gas Exploration Company and most of what I do is Graphic in nature, making pretty maps charts and presentaions. I need my old change properties dialoge box, MPedit, and use my ssx command along with several lisp programs to do most of what I need to do. Is there any thing like it that can be brought up in Acad 2005-3D. I hate the new mass properties way of changing things and can do things 10 times faster in R14. Am I the only one? I also cannot get a decent plot on a regular basis off my HP 5000 PS plotter and often have to convert back to R14 or create a Raster image of what I want to print and plot it that way? Is there any Help out there?

Spatters, you're not the only one. I'm in a similar situation, we have so many LISP & ARX commands and functions written for R-14, that the company wide move to 2005 is almost fruitless. I could use some help with transferring those over to 2005 also.

And yes, plotting in 2005 is a pain in the *** too. Being in the civil engineering field, we use 24" x 36", 30" x 42", etc., but it seems like in 2005 I had to set all of those up manually.

Instead of modifying the plot settings from the plot window directly, try going to your Page Setup Manager (File>Page Setup...) and creating a new Page (don't forget to set your new page to "Current"). You'll find that once you have your page(s) setup, you can open any drawing and call that page setup from the plot window. Makes life a little easier, but I still hate messing with their margins and centering the plot and all that.

Map 3D 2005 has a great tool for making maps called the Display Manager. It allows you to apply styles to your objects. Styles can change the the color, linetype, thickness and so on. I have been using it and has made it easy for my to make some great looking maps.

As far as the Paper sizes, did you go into your plotter (in the Printer Dialog or through the Device button in your page setup) [This depends on how the Plotters were installed by IT Folks and your rights on the Printers] and (usually at the very bottom of the list) there is a "More Sizes" selection. Click it and you should have a radio button that says Arch and another one for Oversize, select these. If all you do is 24x36 and 30x42, you can deselect the ISO, American and others. Then when you plot, select the ARCH D(24x36) or Arch E1(30x42) Expanded or Oversize and you should not have any more problems.
