I am assuming that I am missing something really simple, but I want to check sight distance for entering vehicles on at grade intersections on a 2 lane highway. I am using the Check Sight Distance command. I pick my surface which includes my existing ground surface with the final corridor surface pasted into it. I am running along my design alignment and profile. The only options I can see are travelling in the direction of my alignment, and using some positive value for eye height and offset. I have tried entering a negative value for eye offset but that is not allowed. Also, it is always travelling in the direction of my alignment.

Question: If I want to check sight distance for a vehicle entering from the left side of the alignment how do I do that without being able to enter a negative offset for the eye? Also, how do I check the sight distance for a vehicle entering from the left, but they are looking down chainage? Intuitively I would want to have an eye offset of -6.00 m and be looking in the opposite direction of the alignment.

When checking sight distance for entering vehicles there are 4 checks I want to do. Entering from the right, looking up and down chainage and entering from the left looking up and down chainage. I can't figure out how to cover off all 4 situations. The only one I can get is entering from the right, looking up chainage.

Is there a way to do this using an alignment with offsets or do I have to create new feature lines at various elevations and offsets from centreline and running in various directions in order to accomplish what I want?

wow, crickets. I was hoping someone would know how to do this. Maybe I should suggest this functionality to AutoDesk if they don't already have it in their program.
