Hi All,

I expect this question has been asked before, but I could not find an answer through the search bar. At any rate, we are using Revit Architecture 2015. The Civil Engineer has given us a CAD file where the linework is literally 180 miles away from the (0,0). Obviously, this doesn't work well when linked into Revit.

I don't know AutoCAD that well. Is there a way to open the Civil CAD file, and relocate the project (0,0)?

Here's what I DON'T want to do... I don't want to turn on all of his layers, and move all of his line work 180 miles to the (0,0). Is there a better way?

Thank you in advance.

You might want to check out Steve Stafford's blogs for "shared coordinates" posts: http://revitoped.blogspot.com/search/label/Shared%20Coordinates. In particular this one: http://revitoped.blogspot.com/2014/11/importing-cad-files-and-by-shared.html and possible the "Survey Point" series (I really need to go back and read those in depth).

Granted, this doesn't answer the question you asked, but I suspect it will address the issue you really want.

I recall an answer to this question, but I never tried it. Wblock the entire Acad file in Acad and give the block an origin of 0 0 0.

Leave the survey file alone. Just import the file and move the relevant part of the survey close to the Project Base Point, if necessary. The Acquire Coordinates from the survey. If you read my recent blog posts linked in the previous reply it ought to help.
