I'm looking for some help correcting Revit 15 to Max 15 LINK problems. I keep the Revit model as a link because the model is constantly changing. The problem is that some of the model faces imported into max loose their material assignments. In Revit everything in terms of materials looks fine and renders fine. - Once into Max the consistency of material assignments suffers. For example, the same wall family in Revit will have the right material on one face but a different material on another once inside of Max. I group objects by materials when importing into Max so when the offending walls are selected in Max walls with both the correct material's and incorrect materials are selected. It does not help to assign another material in Max to the wall group. The faces that have lost their materials will not accept an updated material.

I'm a beginner 3ds max user so it appears that I have very little control over the Revit link once in max and all the elements are grouped by material.

Has anyone experience this issue and do you have any fixes.

Thanks a ton

Yes! Max has been known to do this since the introduction of live Revit models linked to Max... Have you come across perforated materials yet? haha. In Revit they render out fine, but once imported into Max they change the scale. So what was coin-sized holes becomes soccer ball sized holes! Easy fix to rescale in Max, but a constant pain.

Three things:
A) How are you importing? by material, by object, do not combine....etc....?
B) How are you reloading the Revit file? Check boxes for keep Max materials or not?
C) Have you taken a look at this blog post? Should take about 10 minutes to breeze through this simple lesson plan:
