Guardrail does not hook to stair

The tool to hook the guardrail to a host is not working for stairs.
I needed to split the guardrail and erased the piece over the steps. When I tried to create a new one the tool didn't recognize the stair as a valid host.:?:

You need to make sure that the sketch line is on top of the stair, not a hair outside. You might also need to specify a new host, check in the ribbon
