Title: Become BIM-Sure: A Safer Way to Develop Construction Documents Through Automation
Instructor: Gilles Letourneau
Course Description: In this class, we will present workflow strategies that eliminate unforeseen errors when producing construction documents with BIM. As architects and designers, we often begin projects with general information and are asked to provide specific detail information in the form of working drawings and specifications. Unfortunately, we forget sometimes that there is an "I" in BIM, because the "M" is more fun! But the majority of the effort is managing the numerous project-related owner requirements and product data requirements. With the advent of Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) methods, data flow becomes even more critical. This class will present case studies of what adjustments to workflow some firms have done to address the need for integrated BIM systems. This will include a demonstration of a successful workflow through automated specifications, BIM generated drawing annotations and keynotes, and project-wide collaboration applications.
