Title: Wind Farms Transportation Planning: (Not) Gone with the Wind

Course Description: This class will help those involved with transporting abnormal loads such as wind farm components. When moving oversized loads, planners have to investigate the proposed route and identify specific spots where the vehicle might have a problem maneuvering. These days it is easy to find and download mapping in various forms, and when they are in scale, they can be attached to a CAD drawing for analysis. The next step is, of course, the vehicle: planners will need all the dimensions of the vehicle and the load being transported, and these types of vehicle often have complicated steering mechanisms that must also be considered. Then the fun starts. Join us to learn the fundamentals of complex vehicle modeling and swept path analysis so you can confidently predict that they will indeed be "gone with the wind" and not stuck on the bend.
