Title: Retail Loading Areas: (Not) Lost in Space

Course Description: It is rare to find really efficient use of space in the design of loading and public access areas in retail industry. This leads not only to wasted space, but potentially, health and safety issues that can lead to accidents. The range of conflicting requirements in these areas means that intelligent planning of the space is essential. In this class, planners will learn how to identify problematic safety spots and also how to optimize the space used using 2D and 3D visualization tools. Through some design examples, planners will learn how they can ensure that all vehicles can operate on the site safely and efficiently.
