View Full Version : Qleaders jumping over the drawing as they are moved

One of the guys here is having trouble with his leaders jumping all over the drawing. He places text first then draws a leader using quick leader (this is how he likes to do it). I can't nail down what chain of events leads to the leaders moving (he is not using dim update, his dimassoc is set to 2, but there's no associativity since text is placed separate). He has done it this way up until now (2002 being the previous release). So does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks,

Jason

Hi

Can you please post a drawing file that exhibits such behaviour so we can take a look.

Have a good one, Mike

I've had this same problem especially when scaling and sometimes for no obvious reason at all. Suddenly one point on the leader is waaaay off one side of the drawing and I have to redraw the thing to get it to look decent again because no amount of gripediting will make it behave again.
I have noticed that it happens frequently when I'm working on our detail drawings which I'm converting from ACAD 14 to 2005. When I do that I have to be very careful to reset the leader settings first although this doesn't always help.

Has anyone found a solution to this problem ?
We have the same problem with the Qleaders moving off into nowhere & this also will happen with the extension lines on our dimensions.
There doesn't seem to be any link that would cause this. It doesn't happen all the time.Just every once in awhile. Thanks

Our firm has the same problem on 2005, to fix the issue, we added a line in everyones acad.lsp file to automatically shut associative dimensioning off (setvar "dimassoc" 1), we were having all sorts of problems with scaling issues. we accidental sent out a drawing that had a dimension of 1050 feet, it was supposed to be 35, not only did it associate the scale of the viewport, but then it also scaled that scale. We figured it would be safer to just not use the feature until Autodesk improved it. leaders were jumping all over the place.

I've never attached a drawing to a post. Hopefully this will work.
The attached drawing (hopefully) shows the dimensions (believe there are 3) that did not move when the object was moved. Instead they went off on their own direction.

Try the attached drawing file...

Is it ok! ?

Seems to be OK. I moved things around in the drawing and the extension lines follow. What would cause the extension lines to go off on there own ?

Honest answer, I don't really know (sorry)...

Guess - It is a known fact that True Associative Dimensions can lose track of the Objects they are meant to be associated with. Since their introduction into AutoCAD 2002, each release was improved slightly on their functionality (but they are still not perfect).
