floor plans dont show in color but topo is in color

I put a building pad under my building. Now the floor plan shows grayed out as if the visual style is set to hidden lines even though it's set to shaded with edges. This does not seem to happen in my other files. In my other files, the floor plans are shown in vivid colors for presentation. I know it has something to do with the building pad but not sure what the difference is between the two files.

Make sure a Color Scheme is set in the view and/or view template applied to the view.

See if the Color Scheme is set to Foreground or Background.

Try turning off/on the building pad, and/or making it transparent.
