We recently had an issue on all our machines with ADT and BDS hanging up sporadically and unexpectedly. This issue raised its head within the last week, when two of our projects began to be fully populated with the regular host of files from multiple disciplines.

One of our operators found some device online that enabled him to see all the background tasks that were running. He discovered that ACAD was running continual searches across the LAN, and that one of the searches was returning negative results. The negative results were consistently received when looking for a particular database.

After a short trial and error period, it was determined that Project Navigator is responsible for almost all the LAN searching. We closed down PN on all machines and the glitches immediately stopped. We now activate PN only as needed.

I realize that this may be a temporary work around, but we do not have time at the moment to search for the missing file.

If anybody has any ideas, I would appreciate any input.

We ran into that problem with plain 2002.
Every time you zoom, pan or what not, Acad would hang for second.
We put a sniffer between the server and a workstation to find out what was happening.
Acad was requesting a file called "esort.dwk" about a 1000 times or more a second, then it would give up. We did a little research and found that changing the setting in the object sorting section helped, but it also hindered our work.
Not sure if this is the same problem you are having, but....this ones a know issue that's not going to be addressed for 2002 users.
