We recently had an issue on all our machines with ADT and BDS hanging up sporadically and unexpectedly. This issue raised its head within the last week, when two of our projects began to be fully populated with the regular host of files from multiple disciplines.
One of our operators found some device online that enabled him to see all the background tasks that were running. He discovered that ACAD was running continual searches across the LAN, and that one of the searches was returning negative results. The negative results were consistently received when looking for a particular database.
After a short trial and error period, it was determined that Project Navigator is responsible for almost all the LAN searching. We closed down PN on all machines and the glitches immediately stopped. We now activate PN only as needed.
I realize that this may be a temporary work around, but we do not have time at the moment to search for the missing file.
If anybody has any ideas, I would appreciate any input.
