Searched hi and lo for thread re: uninstall fix from revit support.
Need to uninstall previous 4.5 and 5.0 from a couple of machines
(win2000 os)
to install 5.1 (and anticipating 6.0) :?:

realize you can have muiltiple versions on same machine--but am having problem registering new 5.1 seat....don't want old versions anyway.

Thought there was some previous solution here...
in meantime have contacted revit support.

Cheers,

Cliff Collins

The patch is a Microsoft product. I have it, but its about a year old, so there may be a more up to date version available through revit support.

Its glitchy, ... doesn't appear to work, when it actually does.

Jeffrey McGrew wote in the ng

I did it by simply deleting all the registry tags that refered
to the install number, the one that it pops up as part of the error
message that comes up when you try to install a newer build on
a machine before you've uninstalled the last build. There was a
tool that Steve e-mailed me (that's from MicroSoft) that was supposed
to do the same thing, but for some reason didn't work. But searching
and deleting did. Thanks god for the 'find' command!

an auto-update installer would be much helpful, guys. :)

Turns out it was a botched install in the first place, and that's
why I couldn't uninstall it to install the latest build.
