Reusing details with 3D data

I created a complicated detail that took a callout from the 3D model and enhanced it with drafting details. I now want to reuse that detail on another project and Revit won't let me because it has 3D data in it.

Is there a work around?

Nope. Short of opening the file and trying to copy clip all the 2d data from one file/view to another, that's the only option.
You can't use the Insert view from file on any detail or plan view, only drafting and schedules and Sheets.

I exported to dwg, then imported them back in. Not as nice as the original, but it works.
