Good Morning everyone, I am a CAD technician at a fire alarm company. my boss wants to know is there a way we can set Autocad to recognize the blocks that we have created and make a table automatically, is there a way to add the information to the block it self like part numbers, currents etc......
Also, is there a way to set up auto numbering so everytime i drop a symbol it will add a number to it that will be visable or do i have to manually do that.
Thank you in advance for any support.

Congrats on your first post!
According to the thread you posted in, you're working in AutoCAD LT correct? If so, using LISP is out of the question, so I don't know about auto-numbering blocks.
As far as a table with blocks, I don't think you can just do this automatically, but you can insert blocks within an AutoCAD table and edit the attribute(s) when placing them in the table.

If you're talking about building a BOM or Legend from your blocks, I don't believe that there's a whole lot LT can do. There's a reason it's cheaper thn the full version.
Same thing with autonumbering and incrementing. You'll need either Full Acad, or some other CAD package that enables programming customization. BricsCAD, Ares Commander, Intellicad, etc.

Can you post a dwg with some examples of what you would like to do, it sounds like you need blocks with attributes for the part information, and these can be extracted out to an excel list for the purposes of counting and ordering, it might need a combination of techniques, so not entirely automatic, but it can certainly be done a lot quicker than a one by one manual method.
