I have created a templete file. It has a rte extension. How should I use this templete?
I try to save as a rvt file but I don't have that option. It seams that the file will remain as a rte file. Is that the way is suposse to be?
Thanks
When you start a new project you are given the opportunity to specify which template you want to use. That's when it comes into play.

File>Open> Pick your template by browsing to it's location (usually held in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Autodesk\Revit Building 8.1\Metric Templates )
make the necessary adjustments and save your file (or saveas & give it a new name). If giving it a new name, you'd have to adjust your options settings, ie Settings>options>file locations

Template files are saved as RTE extensions, not RVT. Open any file you want as a template, File>Save As>Switch file type drop down to RTE, and save.
