Negative dimension

Is there a way to create dimensions with negative values? I am working with elevations that are above and below zero. I want the ones below zero to have a minus symbol. Yes I know that I can create a style that has a minus symbol for a suffix. I would like a style that changes between positive and negative. For example if I stretch up a -8 dimension by ten feet it should become 2.

You need to be using ordinate dimensions. Just make sure that "sea level" is at zero, i.e. y=0.

Ordinate dimensions will give the distance above or below "sea level" but does not add the minus symbol for below "sea level".

Two styles then. One with a "-" prefix. It won't change when you stretch through zero though.
