What will be a good idea for any CAD package is when you are about to open a drawing in the preview window why doesnt it give you the option to zoom in and out, surely there must be a way!

What version of AutoCAD LT are you using. In AutoCAD 2004, this is possible by right clicking, choosing pan/zoom and using the scroll wheel to zoom in/out or pan. You must be doing a full preview and not a partial preview.

I mis-typed. I was referring to AutoCAD 2004LT. You should be able to do this in 2005LT. When you do a print preview (full preview, not partial preview), what happens when you right click on the preview. In fact, you should have the zoom cursor up as soon as you get into preview (magnifying glass with + and - on either side.
Do you not see this?

Ummmmm, Brenda, , I think ratty is referring to the preview window on File Open, not Print preview. And a really good idea it is too.;)

That's the way I read it also.
Only problem is, the preview is just a tiny bitmap image. Any zooming would result in a pixelated mess that you wouldn't be able to make out anyway.

Yep, that's right... its just a small picture and not interactive with the drawing file. In order to be interactive it would practically have to load the drawing anyway, which really wouldn't save you any time (except you wouldn't have to wait for menu's, lisps, etc to load...which would be sorta nice...).
