Is it possible & if so how do you crop an imported image / Jpeg ?
I need to select specific areas of an imported image preferably within Revit

Not possible, inside revit. You need to crop first, then bring in. This should go onto wishlist items.

Insert image into plan or elevation where it will not show in other views. Place on page using a viewport that has no title. Adjust size to fit the page as needed and crop using crop view in the properties menu. The ability to adjust transparency would be far more valuable to put on the wish list as the drawing typically prints quite dark unless made lighter with another program. A test print is highly recommended!

Crop the image in an image editor such as Adobe Photoshop or TechSmith's SnagIt. Then import the image into your Revit project.

Yes it is possible if you don't have enough tools knowledge then you must hire clipping path service provider[/URL]. They can crop the image in perfect way.
