I recently upgraded to Revit 2015 from 2012 and in the materials browser none of the materials have any detail. They are all just gray. Im wondering how I tell if I have an old library - if I can direct Revit to it - or what I should do...

Thanks,

Skye

In the Materials Browser you can 'Create New Library' from the orange folder looking icon at the bottom left. Put that somewhere you can find it later. You can then drag materials into that library once you open the bottom section by clicking on the 'Show/Hide Panels' icon just under the magnifying glass icon. In the new version of Revit you can then 'Open Existing Library' to get those materials into the new version.

Google search is your friend, at least I know it's mine.

Here's a fuller explanation: https://aectechtalk.wordpress.com/2012/06/15/sharing-autodesk-materials-throughout-an-organization/

It looks like you can just grab the whole library from 2012. I searched the net for "revit 2012 location default materials" and found this: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/revit-products/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Default-paths-of-support-files.html

Hope that helps.
