Background image dos not show

I have been putting background images to my 3D views. That is, under Graphics Display options I insert an image for the background. However, everytime I finish, nothing shows up. It seems to have worked in my other 3D views but not for this one particular view.. What could be wrong?

Another odd thing is that I cant seems to change the background image to another photo.

for the replacing...need to change the setting from image to none, hit apply, and then again select image and choose another image.
as for backgrounds printing, i'm looking this up as well.
