Pdf of 3d view with background

I'm trying to create a pdf of a 3d view with a background image. However, the background image does not show up? Has anyone done this before? what pdf program have you used? Or could it be that my computer is just not powerful enough. What could be causing the image from not showing up.

Are you trying to render it to your screen or print a 3d pdf?
Depending on complexity, you may not have enough memory on your GPU. I've heard that can be an issue, but I haven't seen it myself yet.
Workstation specs?
