View Full Version : 2016 Topography and Project Coordindates vs. Shared Coordinates

Hi,

When my draftsperson created a house model, he put the grade level at an elevation of 0'; this had the basement level somewhere around -9'-6".

However, I wanted to change our levels so that they showed heights above sea level. I changed the levels to be "heights relative to shared base point" in lieu of "project base point".

This was fine and didn't require me to fix elevation views.

I brought the site plan CAD file in from my surveyor. I placed it at a level of 0' above sea level. The contours came in at appropriate heights as indicated on his plan. I went to Toposurface in Revit, "Create from Import", "Select Import Instance", and it automatically generated a topography in the correct place. However, it changed to position of the contour line graphics so that contour lines were placed at intervals relative to the project base point rather than the shared base point. That's not what I want. I want the toposurface to show contour lines based on the shared base point. I want the meaningless project base point info to go away and never come back.

How do I fix this?

Thanks,
Derek

Thank you. I watched that several times, tried to follow its steps, and was unable to get it to work properly like in the video. For one thing, moving the levels like in the video messes up all my elevation and section views. The solution in the video doesn't seem to deal with project vs. shared heights (as I had the project set up already). It messed up one or the other. I don't know; I tried for an hour.

Autodesk should provide us with a toggle to flip a toposurface's contours between project and shared heights.
