View Full Version : 2015 Stair Path Arrow partially hiding behind tread

I have a really strange issue going on with my stairpaths. As soon as the stair is cut, the arrowhead of the stairpath (partially) hides under a tread (see screenshot)

I`ve played extensively with all the parameters of the stairpath but nothing is helping.

The stair itself is a component stair converted to a sketch.

I`ve also restarted revit and even redone the entire stair but it`s still showing up.

I`m running revit2015.

I would really appreciate any feedback.

Hard to tell without looking at the file but I am suspecting the arrowhead lines are model lines vs detail lines.

Thanks for your input. How can the arrowhead be a modelline (as I have used the systemfamily for stairpaths and not a component family)?

Ok try this. Try to tab through the arrow until you select it. Then read the name of the type under the properties. Search under families in you browser for that type. It can be something like FIXED UP DIRECTION. Once you find it, right click and choose type properties. Play with the parameters there. I suspect it is DISTANCE TO CUT MARK. Changing the values should fix this.

Hope this helps!

I tried moving but the arrowhead but stills happens, even if there is 5 treads between the cut mark and the arrowhead.

Interesting! Can you upload a very light Revit model with just that component so I can investigate more?

Please find a purged file in attachment. Thanks for taking the time, really appreciate it.

Alright. Try this. Under VV>Stairs>Uncheck the Treads/Risers.

That should work!

Yes that worked ... for a little while and then it stopped working again :-/ . This really feels like a bug.

I ended up overwriting visibility settings of the stair runs by element (surface transparency of 100%)

Do you think I should report this as a bug?

Also, when in sketch mode, I can clearly see the stairpath intersecting with the staircase. I imagine that it probably the underlying cause. Any ideas on how to reset the staircasepath? (I tried redrawing it)

That's weird. I don't think we want to control it by element and overrides such as transparency as they are not true to the nature of the construction elements. It'll cause issues down the road either for you or your consultants.

What do you mean by it stopped working? Do you mean it doesn't work for a different stair type?

No I mean it literally stopped working after a few minutes. One moment all was fine, but after half an hour of continuing in the model (not worked on the stairs though!) the arrowhead was hidden again. I checked the view settings risers/treads are off.

It seems to be a bit hard to tell what's going on not seeing the actual model. I would play with other visibility parameters under VV>Stair. See if that can fix it..
