I didn't realise that the split face command works on the entire depth of the wall.

I have been splitting the face on a bathroom wall and filiing it with a tiling hatch pattern.

The other side of the wall has an adjoinging ensuite. So when I spilt the face of that wall, the new faces overlap the ones on the other side.

Has anyone come across this problem before?

One anomaly, is that when you select a wall from the elevation opposite to the face that was split, the split face appears to highlight.

Also, when you use the paint tool, and hover over the wall, you can select the opposite ( hidden )split face . If you check the status bar while tabbing, you can see which surface is being selected.

The split face has not however . effected the opposite face. It just seems that way sometimes.
