Recommendations: Revit project working method between Model and Site?

Out of interest; when starting a new Revit project what method is preferred?

1. To set up a separate file for the site and model - linking the model file into the site?

2. To model both the site and model in the same file?

I prefer method #1, following Steve Stafford's recommendations (http://revitoped.blogspot.com/2012/05/shared-coordinate-post-summary.html).
