Hi All,

I've taken the plunge into AutoCAD Plant 3D (v2016) and my engineering team frequently uses Navisworks Simulate to communicate design ideas with the engineering team and clients. One topic that has come up repeatedly is the fact that the graphics of the pipe within Navisworks is octogonal, whereas our previous program, CADWorx, could import into Navisworks with visually satisfying results.

Is there any setting that can be tweaked to enhance the graphics of AutoCAD Plant 3D models within Navisworks Simulate?

Much obliged,
CASk8er

In your global option (F12) you will see a file tree on the left side of your screen. Navigate to file readers and click on DWG. You will see the Faceting factor at the top if you increase that number it will smooth those edges. Warning though it will also decrease performance based on the number of facets needed to create your geometry.

Our company uses an export utility to accomplish this. You can find it here: http://www.autodesk.com/products/navisworks/autodesk-navisworks-nwc-export-utility
