Has anyone discovered a way to turn off generating the file hardcopy.log? I have scoured the net and cannot find a solution that actually works.

This file is a major pain for us because of the design process that is used by our company. And before anyone uses the logic it’s a small file, read on about our procedures.

Each person works in an ‘in-process’ folder on the server.
When the design is ready for production the engineer MOVES any interim revision folders they feel are needed to an archive area on the server and deletes unwanted files/folders. The final production package folder is MOVED into the production area on the server. This prevents multiple copies on the server.

Problem: Note the word MOVE, not COPY. If a hardcopy.log file has been created, by anyone, the engineer who created the file must shut down AutoCAD and wait at least 30 seconds while the server and/or AutoCAD and/or the OS releases the hardcopy.log file as in-use. Now the movement of the appropriate files can occur [and deletion of the hardcopy.log]. This means any other files open need to be closed & restarted after moving the project.

I am going into detail to show why this is such a problem and not a nuisance file like plot.log & in hoping someone from Autodesk is reading.

Any help?

Can you attach one of the log files? It would help track down where the error is coming from and maybe find a solution.

I only found 2 copies of the files on the server & both are 0 bytes long. Not one character in the file when opened by notepad. [Everyone has been deleting them when they get the chance].

Also - per the link you provided I double checked & my spool alert option is set to 'never alert (do not log errors)'.
